The National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation are a non-profit organisation whose mission is to support cancer survivors and improve their quality of life. Cancer Survivors Day takes place on the first Sunday in June every year. It is a celebration for those who have fought and beaten cancer whilst providing hope and strength for those who continue their battle. The day involves friends and families raising awareness of cancer and how it affects lives.
How to Celebrate Cancer Survivor’s Day
Events for the day would normally include meetings of survivors, bake sales, coffee mornings, social events and much more. COVID-19 does not mean that the celebration is cancelled. Here are some ways you can celebrate:
- Connect with cancer survivors and supporters by using the hashtag #NCSD2020
- Send a special letter to a loved one
- Learn or teach others more about cancer
- Attend or host a socially distanced event
Relay for Life
Busy Bee Recruitment were very excited to be taking part in ‘Relay for Life’ on the 20th June however unfortunately due to these uncertain times the event has now been delayed. Relay for Life brings together teams of family and friends to fundraise for life-saving cancer research. Teams, cancer survivors and volunteers unite for a weekend-long festival to honour everyone who has been affected by cancer and celebrate the money raised for research. The festival focuses around a 24-hour relay where our team will be taking it in turns to walk all day and all night to show that together we will do whatever it takes to beat cancer.
