We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established business for a Production & Facilities Engineer to support the ongoing development of manufacturing processes while also taking ownership of site engineering maintenance and facilities coordination. This is a varied role combining production engineering, continuous improvement and project work with responsibility for ensuring equipment, utilities and site facilities remain safe, compliant and operational. Reporting directly to the Site Director, you'll play a key role in driving food manufacturing performance while coordinating maintenance activities and engineering projects across the site. This role would suit either an engineering graduate looking to develop their career or an experienced engineer with a strong engineering background. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys a varied role, combining hands-on maintenance with planning, contractor management and continuous improvement. Reporting directly to the Site Director, you'll play a key role in ensuring the site's equipment, utilities and facilities operate safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime. This role could be suitable for an engineering graduate or an experienced engineer.

Job Duties:

  • Provide engineering support to production, identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, efficiency, quality and output.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, using root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques to eliminate recurring production issues.
  • Support the introduction of new equipment, tooling and manufacturing processes, ensuring successful implementation into production.
  • Work collaboratively with production teams to optimise workflows, improve productivity and support operational excellence.
  • Plan, coordinate and manage preventative maintenance schedules across production equipment, utilities and site facilities.
  • Coordinate external contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and inline with Health & Safety and site compliance requirements.
  • Support the maintenance and servicing of production plant, including pumps, compressors, agitators, centrifuges, boilers and associated process equipment.
  • Source replacement parts, equipment and engineering solutions to support production and site operations.
  • Ensure engineering activities are carried out in accordance with Health & Safety, food safety, GMP and company quality standards.
  • Provide support for facilities management, ensuring the site infrastructure, utilitied and services remain safe, compliant and operational.

What we are looking for:

  • Mechanical Engineering qualification (HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent).
  • Experience within a production, manufacturing or process engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Understanding of preventative maintenance planning and engineering asset management.
  • Experience working with industrial plant equipment, utilities and manufacturing machinery.
  • Excellent project coordination and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across production, engineering and external contractors.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise a varied workload and drive improvements independently.

Critical skills, competency and expectations:

·        Strong written English and report writing ability.

·        Full UK driving licence.

·        Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively throughout the UK and overseas, including occasional trips of up to three weeks.

·        Abilityto obtain security clearance where required for international travel.

·        Eligibility to travel internationally without visa or passport restrictions.
