Job Duties:

• Lead and supervise the Front of House team, including casual staff, ensuring a consistently high standard of service is delivered to Fellows, students, and guests daily.

• Plan and take an active role in the service of food and beverages at a variety of college functions, including Feasts, Reunion Dinners, Fellows’ Dinners, conferences, private events, and those held at the Master’s Lodge.

• Ensure all staff are properly briefed before each event, with attention to any specific requirements or guest needs.

• Oversee the timely setup and catering service in all College rooms booked for events or dining, ensuring they are arranged according to specifications.

• Ensure compliance with college policies and legal regulations related to Food Safety, Health and Safety, and COSHH. Provide training on the safe and proper use of catering equipment as necessary.

• Conduct regular spot checks across food and coffee service areas to confirm correct setup, presentation, and food labelling.

• Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new casual staff. Support the ongoing development of the team to maintain excellent service standards for both internal and external guests.

• Promote operational efficiency within the department by managing staffing schedules, monitoring productivity, minimizing overtime, and ensuring the correct and economical use of hired linen and cleaning materials.

• Maintain proactive engagement with guests to ensure expectations are met. Address all customer feedback promptly and courteously.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in a similar multi-skilled maintenance role within a logistics, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong Electrical and Mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and ambitious attitude with desire to progress in the business
  • Welding skills would be advantageous for this vacancy but not essential.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team.
  • Relevant technical qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations)
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
