We are seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Maintenance Engineer to join a client of ours in Newmarket within the Coldstore department. Leading a team of 2–4 Engineers, this is a hands-on role where you will be performing maintenance tasks on both Warehousing Equipment and Facilities. You will be a self-motivated candidate with ambitions to progress within the company, focusing on improving efficiency, delivering cost savings, and effectively managing the Maintenance department.

Job Duties:

• Leading a team of 2-4 engineers, providing guidance and direction to ensure high-quality and efficient maintenance performance.

• Diagnose and resolve issues with production equipment, machinery, and building infrastructure in a timely manner.

• Provide on-site technical support and expertise during breakdowns or equipment malfunctions.

• Conducting planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks including mobile racking maintenance and repairs, management of dock levellers and loading bays, floor repairs, roller/slide door repairs/replacement / Conveyors / Facilities.

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

• Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies including regulatory controls.

• Work closely with operations and logistics teams to minimise disruption to daily business.

• Liaise with external contractors and service providers as the main point of contact

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in a similar multi-skilled maintenance role within a logistics, distribution, or manufacturing environment.

• Strong Electrical and Mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

• Self-motivated and ambitious attitude with desire to progress in the business

• Welding skills would be advantageous for this vacancy but not essential.

• Experience of leading and managing a team.

• Relevant technical qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations)

• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.

• Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
