How to successfully manage your team when working remotely
Written by KayleighSince the COVID-19 Pandemic hit the UK in 2019, we are finding that Candidates are seeking a job with remote or hybrid working over a fixed work location. We believe this is because people have managed to find a way to find a good balance with their career and social life. As a company we offer flexible working to our team allowing them to work where and when they want, however we also do acknowledge that not all companies have the confidence to apply this and we have come up with a few tips on how you can successfully manage your team when working remotely:
Ensure access is easy: Working remotely, you should make sure that your employees and team members can easily gain access to their workload. Create connections for your team members and make yourself available for them when needed.
Create organisation and flexibility: You should look to create a work atmosphere that is both highly organised but offers your team members a level of flexibility. Schedule weekly meetings to discuss workloads, diary amendments and any worries or concerns there may be.
Track your teams progress: When working remotely, try not to load more pressure onto your employees, instead, monitor their progress remotely and any issues or questions they may have, keep yourself available to help in assisting. Remember to trust your team but to keep checking in with them frequently.
Take an interest in your team members workspace: A happy home makes a happy worker. Be sure to check in and ensure they have everything they need for their workday ahead. Assist with their needs and praise their achievements to increase motivation as they work from home.
Create a workspace as well as a remote break room: Not everyone is going to be cut out for remote working, and the feeling of being lonely can sometimes affect their working initiative. Try and create an online workspace where team members can connect, chat and help each other to build moral and team spirit.
