You can become a CAD Technician by completing an apprenticeship and you need to have 4-5 GCSEs (A-C) including Maths, English and Science. You can also gain CAD skills by taking courses in engineering, technology, manufacturing or computer-aided design at college.
What does a CAD Technician do?
A CAD Technician could work in 2D which is known as surface modelling or 3D design which is known as solid modelling. CAD Technician's use computer aided design systems to design and create plans for buildings and machinery. The job involves planning, project management and production of electronic technical drawings. Before CAD existed, draughtsman would have used a pen and paper and a drawing board.
