Back in 2017, Busy Bee Recruitment Ltd was set up by Founder, Kayleigh Bysouth. With just her home computer, home phone and a desk in her spare room it became her passion to make the business a success! We are extremely proud of what we have achieved over the last 3 years and cannot believe how quickly it's gone. Take a look back on what we have been up to and how we have grown throughout 2017-2020!

What happened in 2017?

Kayleigh officially launched Busy Bee Recruitment and moved into the first 2-man office in Ely. Shortly after the move Kayleigh recruited Mark Bridge as our first Recruitment Consultant.

What happened in 2018?

After all of the excitement from 2017, Kayleigh decided that in order to grow the business we needed to employ further staff to support what was or growing list of local clients, this quickly resulted in her recruiting Rachel Housden as the second Recruitment Consultant. The Ely office got to its full capacity with more speed than originally imagined and shortly after the hire of Rachel we had our move to the new office in Soham. In September the business won an award for Best New Business of the Year at the Ely Standard Business Awards.

What happened in 2019?

Last year was one of our biggest years to date! We grew to 9 staff and were busier than ever! Here are some of our highlights:

• Opened a second office in Waterbeach (Cambridge Innovation Park)
• Recruited our first Apprentice, Bethany Chivers (Administrator)
• Emily Fuller became our Marketing Executive after being our Senior Administrator
• Peggy the office dog joined The Hive
• Won Best New Business Award at the SME Cambridgeshire Awards in July
• Sponsored and ran the Arthur Rank Ely Festive 5K and helped raise £7,000
• Sponsored U18's Ely City Football Club
• Hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning and raised £612.25
• Kayleigh won Business Person of the Year Award at the Ely Standard Business Awards
• Courtney Fidler joined The Hive as our Client Relationship Manager - this was a new role for Courtney and the business, and it has proven to be a success
• Mark Bridge joined the on-call fire service whilst being promoted to Senior Recruitment Consultant
• We sponsored Cambridge United FC holding a pitch banner for all supporters to see and became a member of the Stace 100 Club
• Expanded and opened an office upstairs of our Soham office for growth reasons

What is happening in 2020?

We are still in the early months of 2020 but that doesn't mean that we don't have anything exciting happening!

• Launched our new website in January and gave the business a new personality and feel along with new merchandise
• In February we attended the Peterborough Biscuit which was one of our first big exhibitions with over 1500 visitors
• Rachel Housden has taken her REC Certificate in Recruitment Practice exam and has hopes to study her CIPD and become the Training and Development Manager for the business
• Mark Bridge and Zach Faulkner have attended REC Management Training courses to become managers for the business 
• Emily Fuller passed her Principles of Marketing exam
• Bethany Chivers passed her NVQ Level 2 Business Administration exams
• Cherelle Theobald joined the team as an Associate Recruitment Consultant for the Technical & Engineering division
• Bethany Chivers is moving into an accounts role and has hopes to study her AAT whilst doing the administration for the consultants
• In June we are taking part in the Relay for Life for Cancer Research UK which is in aid of our colleague Zach Faulkner who is a cancer survivor
• Instead of entering the Ely Standard 2020 Business Awards, we thought it was time to give something back to our community by becoming a sponsor for the awards and also our Founder & Director, Kayleigh is a judge

How many staff does Busy Bee Recruitment have now? (2020)

We are now up to 10 employees and have hopes to grow throughout 2020!

Here's a few words from our Director & Founder, Kayleigh Bysouth 

“3 year has gone in the blink of an eye, its days like today that I remember fondly the determination I had for wanting to make my business a success in the early days. I didn’t have much, my old computer, my house phone and a spare bedroom that I turned into the very first Busy Bee HQ! During the last 3 years I have been supported by my wonderful team in an environment where we try to strike a balance between working hard and enjoying what we do by having fun. Every day is a new challenge and as the business expands, I realise now more than ever how valuable my team are to me. We have, over the years, tried to ensure that as part of our corporate responsibility we support our local community and I would say one of the most enjoyable parts of owning a business to date is actually what I have been able to give back to the local people and charities who need it the most. I am hopeful that in our 4^th year of business it will we be the most successful yet and will see the hive expand further with the development of existing staff moving into senior roles and the hiring of new talent to our team.”
