We are looking for an experienced Generator Engineer to join a growing engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, testing and commissioning diesel-powered generator systems, both at customer locations and as part of wider engineering projects.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong mechanical and electrical background who is comfortable working independently on customer sites and dealing directly with clients.

Job Duties:

• Undertake routine, intermediate and major servicing of diesel generator sets at customer sites.

• Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical and electrical repairs on generator systems.

• Attend customer locations to complete site surveys and gather technical information for engineering projects and quotations.

• Assist with the design and development of generator installations and associated systems.

• Carry out control panel and control-system wiring.

• Configure, commission and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems.

• Carry out generator load-bank testing across a range of generator sizes.

• Complete testing, commissioning and fault-finding activities to a high standard.

• Maintain accurate service and engineering documentation.

What we are looking for:

• Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and practical experience.

• Good understanding of electrical engineering principles.

• Experience working with engines and generator systems.

• Familiarity with hydraulic systems, including both open- and closed-loop applications.

• Knowledge of axles, transmissions, manual gearboxes and powershift systems

• Previous experience working on heavy plant or construction machinery would be advantageous.

• Experience with PLC programming and generator control systems.
