Our client based near Ely is seeking an Engineering Contracts Manager to lead and manage the contract and commercial aspects of engineering projects.

We are seeking a candidate with proven experience of strategic contract management and a background in engineering or manufacturing.

Duties to Include:

• Maximise project revenue by managing customer variations, challenging changes, and reducing scope creep.

• Monitor project budgets, hours, and costs, keeping records accurate and providing reliable forecasts.

• Identify and address potential overspends or delays, advising the best approach for purchasing and engineering decisions.

• Share feedback with Sales and Proposals teams to improve future budgets and schedules.

• Oversee project schedules, ensuring updates and forecasts are realistic.

• Manage project cashflow, including invoicing customers and monitoring supplier payments.

• Provide financial updates and reports to senior management.

• Support the resolution of commercial and contractual issues with customers and suppliers.

• Advise on contract terms, conditions, and wording to minimise risk.

• Implement and oversee variation processes with customers.

• Analyse weak areas in commercial and contractual processes, recommending improvements.

• Review processes, systems, and tools for efficiency and effectiveness.

• Work closely with internal teams across Projects, Purchasing, Finance, Sales, and Proposals.

• Provide clear commercial and contract reporting to management.

Skills/Experience required:

• A Bachelor’s degree in contract management, engineering or a related field.

• Strong background in contract management within engineering or technical projects.

• Experience developing and applying contract management strategies and processes.

• Proven track record of monitoring, reporting, and ensuring contract compliance.

• Ability to handle and resolve contract performance or compliance issues.

• Strong relationship-building skills with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.

• Commercial awareness with the ability to ensure value for money.

• Skilled negotiator with excellent influencing ability.

• Confident leadership and team management skills.

• High attention to detail and accuracy.
