We are looking for a commercial aware Buyer to join an exciting engineering company based in the North of Cambridge. This role will be sitting within a team of 5 other Buyers to support with the analysis for inventory data, negotiations with suppliers and the purchasing of goods. This is an excellent opportunity to widen skills and knowledge but with room for progression within the role. Ideally you will have experience as a Buyer within an engineering and manufacturing environment but this is not essential.

Job Duties:

• Purchasing small and large goods and materials
• Ensuring purchased goods are to specified costs and lead times
• Negotiating prices and contracts with suppliers
• Attending meetings with suppliers to review performance, orders and future opportunities
• Monitoring status of orders and chasing suppliers to ensure a timely delivery of goods
• Input to purchasing projects and activities, working across internal departments
• Preparing reports and analysis to the team as and when required
• Cover other areas within the team as and when required

What we are looking for:

• Experience within a Buyer role
• Ideally engineering or manufacturing experience but not essential
• Strong mathematical skills
• Ability to work out conversions
• Commercial awareness
• Strong communication skills with ability to negotiate
• Highly organised
• CIPS qualified desirable but not essential
• Proactive and methodical working skills
