You don’t need to wait for Employee Appreciation Day to recognise your employees. Showing appreciation of your workforce has plenty of benefits, including increased morale and workplace effectiveness to name a few.
Here’s a couple of ways to show your employees appreciation throughout the working year!
Employees are less likely to leave
An infographic by Work.com indicated that 54% of employees would quit working at a company where they didn’t feel appreciated. This isn’t that surprising, hard-working employees deserve reward and recognition. Consider incorporating employee of the month across the company or departmental, alternatively, when someone has done a great job, it can be as simple as recognising this achievement with a company-wide email mentioning their efforts and hard work!
Change titles and/or roles for deserving employees
A simple change of job title or role can give an employee a real boost to increase their morale. It is important to reward deserving employees. Furthermore, a change such as this can be just as effective as if you were to give an employee a raise in salary.
Remember to say “Thank you”
Again, a simple way to show appreciation which can go a long way is by regularly thanking your employees. This will, in turn, motivate employees to work harder and to be more productive. Here at Busy Bee, our Director often leaves a simple hand-written “thank you” note on our desks to start the day. Simply saying or showing thanks through inexpensive ways such as a thank you note, or company lunches will be greatly appreciated by employees.
Offer flexible working
If feasible, offer your employees flexible working, such as early finishes or the opportunity to work from home. Promoting a work-life balance within the workplace is a great way to give back to your employees. This form of working is becoming increasingly popular among employers.
Training opportunities
People want the chance to further their career knowledge through training and cross-training. This can include offering courses related to the industry, tickets to attend national or international conferences related to your industry. This will not only benefit your employees but also the company, whilst at the same time showing your employees their personal career ambitions are supported by you as their employer.
