When hiring the candidate experience should give the best reflection of your business. Use our top tips to achieve a great candidate experience.
Communication
Always keep the candidate informed. From the point of receiving their CV, through to expected timescales for a decision. Ensure the candidate remains informed throughout the process, for example through reminder and thank you emails.
Transparency
Candidates will favour a company that is transparent about their culture and values. This allows the candidate to make an informed decision about whether they suit the company. It is important to remember just because you want to hire a candidate for their skillset, they also have to feel comfortable with the company culture to ensure a long term hire.
Structure your interview process
By using a structured interview process, each candidate will go through the same set of interviews. This will help you make a decision quicker. Alongside this, by structuring questions, tasks and the process itself will give a good impression to candidates who could otherwise think you are unorganised, or that the interview is not a priority.
Challenge candidates
Top candidates will appreciate being challenged. By keeping the questions relevant, asking challenging questions will show that your company set a ‘high-bar’ for the candidates you look to hire. This in turn will help you efficiently identify suitable candidates.
Send rejection emails
As soon as you have come to the decision that you no longer wish to take a candidate application further, promptly send a rejection email. Including honest free back is often well received by candidates, and will appreciate you letting them know.
