Systems Build Supervisor (Panel Wiring)

This is an exciting role joining our client in a position supervising two other build operatives, you will be responsible for building and delivering systems on time and to budget. Your primary focus will be managing processes and resources, as well as taking a ‘hands on’ approach to builds where you will utilise your mechanical and electrical expertise to effect.

Salary: £35,000 + discretionary annual bonus

To be suitable for this position you will have clear experience at leading or supervising a team with detailed experience in the understanding of electrical control systems, this alongside the ability and experience of reading electrical schematics.

Duties:

  • Ensuring safe working practices within the department
  • Delivering the build of systems on time and within budget
  • Ensuring that SAP production orders are processed to capture accurate labour and material costs
  • Performance and development management of systems build team
  • Driving continuous improvement activity in all aspects of the systems build supply chain
  • Understanding and leading LEAN manufacturing (HPS, 5s, TPM, Kanban, KPI’s)
  • Implementing Quality Controls (e.g. work instructions, SOP’s, inspection gates and testing)
  • Facilitating and leading daily Production ‘Gemba’ Performance meetings
  • Providing critical and constructive feedback on project progress and new product development
  • Power Cabinet panel wiring
  • Assembly of large cable assemblies in excess of 50m (robot rated)
  • Mechanical assemblies (flash heads, pipework, cabinets, power cables)
  • Electrical / functional / safety testing of system builds
  • Supporting the commissioning and installation processes
  • Testing, fault finding and debugging of systems
  • Running FAT’s

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Leading and supervising teams at a comparable or higher-level capacity
  • Industrial Electrical Engineer qualified at NVQ level 3 or HNC (Desirable)
  • Detailed experience / understanding of electrical switchgear and control systems and the ability to read and understand electrical drawings
  • Proven mechanical knowledge and skills
  • Good working knowledge of PLC hardware and software
  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively across multiple departments / business functions
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels both internal and external
  • Able to react to change resulting from evolving or integrating designs
  • Strong organisational, time-management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, logical and methodical thinking
  • Positive and motivated attitude
  • Safety Management (IOSH or similar)
  • SAP working knowledge (Desirable)
  • Experience in Lean methodology (Desirable)
