Graduate Scientific Support Specialist

We are looking for candidates who have relevant qualifications in the scientific sector, this might be within Chemistry or Physics. The qualification for this role will be essential due to the nature of the technical support that you will be providing to customers.

This is a 50 /50 split role between the laboratory where you will be conducting testing and debugging of applications alongside the rest of the time spent at a desk providing support via the telephone, email and online web chat. You will also be involved in providing support to the marketing department assisting with ideas for blogs and technical instructions around products being sold.


  • Providing technical support via telephone, email and online chat
  • Assisting end-users, distributors and colleagues for a of laboratory and chemistry products
  • Providing pre-sale product selection/specifications
  • Dealing with post sales enquires
  • Identifying spares, accessories, add-ons when required
  • Assisting with product installation/start-up/set-up issues
  • Communication regarding any technical difficulties with supplied equipment
  • Testing products and product applications: Debugging, functional, and performance testing of products 
  • Setting up and testing systems, including scientific instruments, glassware, and software

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Scientific background via degree or similar level qualification (Chemistry or Physics)
  • Hands-on laboratory skills preferred
  • Fully IT literate with standard Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Proactive and well organised
  • Good attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy
  • Enthusiasm and perseverance with a positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Willing to get stuck in with hands-on work
