Payroll Technician

A friendly, welcoming team of 6 are looking for their next member to join them within a Payroll department as a Payroll Technician. This role will require to work from the office which is following all Covid safety guidelines and has all safety measures in place.  You MUST have experience of working within a Payroll Bureau, ability to manage a variety of client payrolls and ideally experience in calculating furlough.

To be suitable for this role you will ideally be CIPP qualified however this is not essential, but you will obtain a strong broad payroll knowledge. You will have experience of working with small, medium and large business, dealing with a variety of payroll calculations and issues. You will offer an excellent service to each client and being of general payroll support.


  • Managing a portfolio of clients with their payroll ranging from small, medium, and large businesses
  • Calculating statutory payments
  • Processing P11D’s
  • Calculating furlough
  • Managing auto enrolment pensions
  • Ensuring all HMRC regulations are followed on all payroll processes
  • Liaising with the client regularly to discuss any changes with their payroll i.e. left employee or new employee
  • Setting up new employees on the payroll system
  • Providing payroll advice and support to clients and employees as and when required
  • Handling any payroll issues effectively and professionally
  • Meeting all payroll deadlines


  • CIPP qualified desirable but not essential
  • MUST have strong payroll experience within a Bureau
  • Broad payroll knowledge
  • Brightpay experience is desirable but not essential
  • Professional and polite mannered
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Willing to learn
  • Excellent time management skills
