Why now is the best time to look for a new job…
According to a recent report issued by KPMG and REC , this month has shown that candidate availability has fallen sharply resulting in a record rise in starting salaries. We have found that candidates are worried about the two big elephants in the room – Brexit and the Covid-19 Pandemic. This ongoing uncertainty about job security has contributed to the sharp drop in candidate availability.
What does this mean if you would like to change jobs?
Claire Warnes from KPMG UK said that “with salaries for new hires increasing at their quickest rate in 24 years” it is the perfect time to find a new role and “job seekers should be taking advantage of the buoyant market to land their dream role”.
Is it just the salaries that have changed?
The team at Busy Bee Recruitment have not only seen a rise in salaries but we are now also seeing more desirable benefits packages. After the first lockdown, due to the pandemic, we noticed that companies are now being more flexible with fully remote & hybrid working styles, we are now seeing that reflected in candidates desire to secure roles that offer this style of working! Within the recruitment industry we are also noticing more unique benefits such as cake Wednesdays, free breakfasts or dress down Fridays and we are here for it!
What does this mean if you are a temporary worker?
Temp billings have expanded at the sharpest pace since 1998! We are finding that in the last 6 months companies demand for temp workers has increased however due to the subsequent drop in European workers and lingering concerns of job security has resulted in a low candidate availability for temporary staff. “The latest rise in temporary vacancies was the quickest since November 1997” therefore companies are trying to make temporary positions more desirable to attract candidates. “The Temporary Wages Index pointed to a sharp and accelerated rise in temp pay during July”.
